The Department of Aerospace Engineering (earlier known as The Faculty of Guided Missiles) was established in 1960 to impart knowledge to Scientists of DRDO and Officers of Armed Forces to take up the challenges in design, development, and use of guided missiles. The later scope was widened to Air Armaments & UAVs. The department is engaged in teaching and research in broad areas of Aerospace Engineering. The department endeavors to produce quality students, undertake project/consultancy work, conduct seminars, symposia, and workshops, update knowledge of working scientists/defence officers through continuing education/short term programs, tailor-made courses, and conduct/guide quality research work to meet the mission of DIAT.
