Department of Electronics Engineering

About Us

The Department of Electronics Engineering, DIAT, is committed to academic excellence, cutting-edge research, and indigenous technology development in strategic defence electronics, communications, and signal processing technologies. The department offers specialized M. Tech. programs in Radar & Communication (R&C), Signal Processing & AI (SP & AI), Defence & Space Electronics (DSE), VLSI & Embedded Systems (VLSI & ES), Semiconductor Chip Design (SCD), Hardware Security and Cryptology (HSC), alongside a rigorous M.S. (by Research) Ph.D program designed to meet the growing needs of defence, space, and industrial sectors. Department has also introduced an M.Tech in Industrial Systems Engineering Specialization in (Radar Systems & Technologies) – for Working Professionals. This program aims to nurture highly skilled professionals with strong technical foundations, interdisciplinary expertise, and the ability to innovate in strategically important domains.

Backed by state-of-the-art laboratory infrastructure and advanced simulation tools, the department actively spearheads high-impact sponsored research for DRDO and allied defence establishments. Its research thrusts span critical frontiers, including RF and microwave engineering, antenna arrays, radar signal processing, electronic warfare, and VLSI design. Through a balanced synergy of advanced coursework and mission-oriented research, students and scholars engage directly in solving real-world technological challenges. The department also maintains strong linkages with defence laboratories, DPSUs,  premier academic institutions, and professional bodies like IEEE to drive technological self-reliance, consistently contributing to national defence capabilities and the mission of indigenous innovation.

Vision

To be a centre of excellence of international repute to provide high-quality education, research and training in the area of Radar and Communications, Signal Processing, Defence and Space Electronics, VLSI and Embedded Systems and Hardware Security to promote innovation and entrepreneurship skills amongst the students with a view to strengthen national security and self-reliance.

Mission

To establish state-of-the-art research facilities to train the personnel as per the Defence needs, especially in Electronics and Communication fields, and to produce qualified manpower for the Defence requirements.
